Sankaty Head Lighthouse

Information:

Getting There:

Parking near the lighthouse is limited because the area is residential. Be mindful of posted signs and private driveways. Many visitors choose to bike from town or from Siasconset Village.

The lighthouse grounds are open to visitors daily from dawn until dusk, and you are free to walk the bluff and enjoy the views year round. The tower itself is normally closed, but the Siasconset Trust opens the lighthouse for public climbs twice a year during special “Lighthouse Open Day” events. These popular events allow visitors to climb to the top of the tower for panoramic views of the Atlantic and the island. Reservations are typically required and fill quickly.

Sunrise is especially beautiful here since the lighthouse faces the open Atlantic. Early morning and sunset also tend to be quieter and offer the best lighting for photos.

Stay Back from the Cliff Edge The bluff in this area is actively eroding. Stay a safe distance from the edge and follow any posted safety guidance.
